All About The Beliefs Of Catholic Fundamentalism

The catholic church has indeed been one of the biggest sources of power and influence all over the world even up until today. For many years the church has been practicing catholic fundamentalism until recently since the election of Pope Francis and the new teachings that he has been introducing to the public. Here is a short background on the fundamentals of the original catholic belief.

Now as stated above, the fundamental beliefs of the church came out from the pope that ruled during the medieval ages which was referred to as the golden age of the catholicism who was known as Pope Innocent III. This era was known as the golden age because the Holy warriors of the church won the war and many more cathedrals as well ad churches were built. It was also during this era that the church gained immense power and ruled most of Europe.

The belief of the conservatives or fundamentalists is that every doctrine was already established and interpreted during the golden age of catholicism in the medieval period. So to them, there is no need for any change because the truth is already set. They do not believe that the word should adapt to the world but the world should adapt to the word.

The reason as to why they do not want to change anything is simply because the catholic leaders during the golden age interpreted by Bible literally. So if the scriptures would say that this law is so, then it should never be broken. They follow everything that is written in the Bible and take it as the absolute law.

It is actually because of this reason that they have rejected scientific discoveries for many years already. They have actually rejected some scientists like Einstein or Galileo as they believed that knowledge is to be given to humans and not discovered. Many scientists believe in rationalism while the fundamentalists are all about faith.

In fact, they also shun such other secular social issues such as women rights, homosexuality, and divorce among others. They believe that these issues should not even be allowed to exist at all. They believe that these acts are against the Bible and that those who engage in these issues are not obeying God.

Another thing that they believe in is that in order to be saved, one has to first undergo an emotional repentance. If there is no emotional outbreak during repentance, then that person has not been saved yet. They believe that being born again means being touched by the spirit of God and is supposed to be a very emotional and spiritual process.

Now the fundamentals of catholicism has not gone through any change although the church has seen some organic growth over time. However, one of the popes that is really introducing a drastic change in beliefs is none other than the newest pope which is Pope Francis. The fundamentalists on the other hand believe that the scripture will never change and that the truth has been laid out already.
