This is a book that is said to have been written by writers that were inspired by God himself thus the Christians really rely on what they read in this holy book. Another genre that can be seen mostly in the Old Testament is the history books. These are the books that tell the Christians the history of Jews starting from the times of judges to the Persian Empire. Some of them include judges, chronicles and also kings. The book of acts in the New Testament also includes a little bit of history.
Wisdom literature was done to make Christians understand the significance of life and sensible living. This genre teaches Christians how to survive according to the wants of God. It shows people to understand how to not work in their own ways but those which are wanted by God. This literature cautions people of wickedness and desires.
Poetry can be seen mainly in the Old Testament. It is similar to the present day kind of poetry. The problem however is that it was written in Hebrew thus it does not translate very well to English. Among the list of books that use poetry are songs of songs, lamentations and psalms. They use a lot of rhymes.
The other kind of genre is the gospel which can also be referred to as good news scriptures. This is a category that mainly speaks about the liberator and also giving courage to believers that he will descend back to life. They can be seen in the new writings and many have a little trace of other genres.
