Many young people are now travelling to different countries in order to study further. To obtain a US Student Visa one does not have to be a citizen. Applying for this can take a long time and one will need to be well prepared.
When wanting to apply there are certain steps that will need to be completed. This could vary from country to country depending on the U. S. Embassy or Consultant in one's own place of residence. Before applying always read the instructions carefully and ensure that one understands everything written down. If any questions need to be asked don't be afraid to make enquiries.
The first stage that needs to be done is to fill in the form and then be accepted by the SEVP or the Student and Exchange Visitor Program. One will need to know as to what one wants to study, academic or vocational. This program is a part of the National Security Investigations Division.
The exchange program will allow students to work during the summer vacation which normally is about four months. There is also an opportunity to work in summer youth camps as a camp counselor. If one is a qualified teacher this will enable one to teach in either a primary or secondary school for up to three years or even become an Au Pair. The requirements to do this one will need to be between eighteen and twenty six and must be able to work about 45 hours a week in the home of those that need care for their children.
These interviews will be done in English so if one speaks a different language, one will need to practice before the interview is to take place. Do not bring any members of the family or friends with to the interview. They are able to travel with one but they must wait in the car or the lobby until the interview is over. If one is applying to go to high school then the parents will be required to attend as there will be the matter of funding that needs to be discussed.
Academic study is a higher, post-secondary, tertiary and third level education. This is the last stage of learning that comes after secondary education, better known as high school and colleges. Schools are compulsory in all countries as this will help one to become better educated and a means to support themselves and their families.
The next step in the process once one has been accepted is to pay a fee. This is done by paying in United Sates Dollars and either by credit card, check or money order. One will need to check up on which category they fall under as there are different amounts for the different kinds of applications.
Applying for the Visa can be very frightening as well as exciting. This is the beginning of a new chapter in one's life. One can learn of the different cultures and meet new and exciting people of all age groups making lifelong friendships at the same time.
