When deciding to pursue a phlebotomy profession, a person must have a serious look at whether their personality fits with what is necessary of the job. Signing up for a phlebotomy training course is a big investment so before you make any commitment you should do your homework.

If you are someone that finds science interesting, this career will most likely be good for you because you'll be able to study and answer any question that your patient may have when you are part of the work force. Among the worst things for a professional is performing a job that he hates so if you enjoy science,it'll make getting through the course and also your job a lot more enjoyable. If you want to succeed and get through the program you must have a passion for the topic and also the desire to just keep absorbing new knowledge, this makes or breaks your career.

Another great personality trait that will help you along in your phlebotomy career is being a people person. You may get a person that is nervous about having his blood drawn so it's always good to have the communication skills to calm them down and talk them through the process so they feel relaxed. We all have our bad days and may just not be in the mood to have our blood drawn, so being able to deal with this situation will help you significantly.Being personable will take u a long way in your career as a phlebotomist.

You cannot be a good phlebotomist if you cannot stand the sight of blood. It may seem obvious because this is exactly what a phlebotomist does - handles blood-, but it pays to say it as you might not even realize it yourself. Not everyone has been exposed to these type of situations. If you find that this is too much or the sight of blood makes your stomach turn, it'll be smart to pursue a different career choice. Many people also vomit if they are nervous or anxious over the procedure so be certain that you're ok with this too.

Working as a phlebotomist can be extremely rewarding. As long as you love dealing with people and also have a strong stomach you will be happy working as a phlebotomist.Having a job in the health care industry is extremely enjoyable and offers very good job security so go for it.
